Description

Welcome to Monster Totems, a new mod released for 1.12.2 and lower! Monster Totems creates a new, innovative way to prevent mob spawning within your base. You can prevent mob spawns in a radius of 64 -128 blocks (by default). Monster Totems includes new blocks, new mobs and new tools, as well as a new unique way to collect resources. Good luck!

Monster Totems is unique in way that makes you interact with a mob before you can prevent the spawns of it. You must always keep this in mind throughout your journey. If you are not a fan of reading, there is a video in the Videos section of this page. Here is the breakdown:

General Info and Crafting
All blocks and items in Monster Totems rely on a single resource, Spirit Powder. This hardened, mysterious powder is useful in the creation of essential items and getting your Totem constructed.

Totem Heads
Spirit Powder is used to create Spirit Ingots, which is used to create a Spirit Knife. This knife has magical properties that are capable of harvesting mob spirits.

Spirit Powder is used to suck the Spirit right out of the mob! When you throw (right-click) some Spirit Powder onto a mob, they will turn into a mob spirit. When the knife is used to kill the mob spirit, it will drop its Spirit. However, any other forms of death will result in the Spirit being lost.
Once you have received the Spirit, you are ready to begin crafting your first totem head! Firstly, you want to infuse the powers of the Spirit into a log. This will be used to carve the totem head. To do this, take the Spirit and right-click onto any vanilla log. You will then want to carve the log (3x right-click) into a totem head using the Carving Tool.

Once you have your totem head, you can add it on top of a Totem Base! This will prevent the spawns of that specific mob within a certain range (info below).
Compressed Totem Heads
Later on in the mod, you can craft a totem head that prevents the spawns of all hostile mobs (even modded ones)! To do this, you will require all other totem heads first. There are 4 Compressed Totem Heads.
The totem heads are as follows:
- Overworld - Zombie, Skeleton, Creeper, Spider
- Unnatural - Enderman, Witch, Silverfish, Slime
- Nether - Blaze, Ghast, Pigman, Magma Cube
- Master - All mobs (even modded ones)

Totem Bases
There are 3 tiers of totem bases. Each tier increases the non-spawnable range around the totem base.
The tiers are as follows:
- Tier I - 64 Blocks
- Tier II - 96 Blocks
- Tier III - 128 Blocks
NB: These values can be altered in the config, and can be set to virtually infinite.
