Description

Indexed

Indexed changes how enchantments and anvils work, as well as adds some new curses, enchantments, and treasure enchantments to the game.

This mod requires the Fabric API.

Major Changes:

1. All enchantable items now come with a cap on how many enchantments it can have. Exceeding this means the item can no longer be added to or repaired. You can exceed the limit by finding overcharged items in loot, or overcharging an item in the anvil. You may use the overcharged tool in a grindstone to remove its enchantments. Level caps can be disabled in the config.

2. Level 5 enchantments are now possible for every enchantment with some exceptions (Silk Touch, Channeling, Infinity)

3. Mutually exclusive enchantments are removed almost everywhere. (So you may combine things like Infinity and Mending now. The one exception is Fortune and Silk Touch)

4. Repairing costs zero experience points when using materials. This means you can repair a broken diamond pickaxe with diamonds at the cost of no experience. The amount of repair materials required depends on how enchanted the item is. Vanilla repairing with tools and experience is also still possible.

New Additions:

1. New "Slow Burn" enchantment for the Elytra which slows down firework velocity but greatly increases their duration.

2. New "Quick Flight" enchantment for the Elytra which speeds up firework velocity but decreases their duration. This enchantment is disabled in the config by default.

3. Slow Burn and Quick Flight are compatible enchantments. Equipping them both with the same level (eg: Quick Charge III + Slow Burn III) will slightly increase overall velocity and firework duration.

4. New "Forgery" enchantment which decreases the repair cost for that tool.

5. New "Keeping" treasure enchantment which has a 60%-100% chance of letting you keep the item after death. Keeping V is 100% but uses up 5 slots so consider this carefully.

6. New "Curse of the Hidden" which makes the item invisible when viewed in first or third person. It still appears on the ground and in the GUI. Great for showing off your skin while wearing armor.

7. New "Curse of Mystery" that can be applied to loot which hides what enchantments it has.

8. New "Essence" enchantment that only appears in loot. It cannot be found with villagers or the enchanting table. This enchantment provides a lot of experience when used in a grindstone.

9. New "Gold Bound Book" that's crafted with gold and has extremely high enchantability compared to a regular book.

Minor Changes:

1. Villagers can no longer sell enchanted books that are higher than level 3. Villagers can only trade treasure, & curses. ie: Things you cannot get on an enchanting table. These nerfs can be disabled in the config.

2. Mending is no longer considered a treasure and is a rare enchantment found in the enchanting table.

3. Silk Touch is now "RARE" instead of "VERY RARE".

4. Nerfed Quick Draw, Sharpness, Knockback, Punch, and Protection (to adjust for level 5 enchantments). These nerfs can be disabled in the config.

5. Riptide will now default to regular behavior when dry instead of being unusable. Riptide also allows Tridents to be thrown farther than usual.

6. Experience retrieved on death is no longer capped at 7 levels.

7. v1.1.0: Copper ore, iron ore, and gold ore now drop experience.

8. v1.2.0: Added some advancements.

Repair Items:

Repair items have been added for items that don't normally have them. All repair items work as follows:

Netherite Items = diamond

Diamond Items = diamond (but costs less diamonds than netherite)

Golden Items = gold ingot

Iron Items = iron ingot

Stone Items = cobblestone

Wooden Items = planks

Shield = planks

Bow = string

Crossbow = string

Fishing Rod = string

Trident = nautilus shell

Shears = iron ingot

Flint and Steel = flint Turtle

Helmet = Scute

Config Explained:

There are two configs. "indexed.properties" and "indexed_modded_items.json".

indexed.properties

Here you can disable the villager and enchanting nerfs. You may also revert the decision to convert Mending into a non-treasure enchantment. And you can enable the "Quick Flight" enchantment for the Elytra if you want it. By default, "enable-config-updates" is set to true. This means the config will automatically be replaced with a new and updated one every time the mod updates. If you do not wish for this to happen, set this to false.

indexed-modded-items.json

Here you can add caps and repair scaling to modded items, or change the caps and repair scaling of existing items. The max_enchanting_slots is how many enchantments are allowed on the item. The repair_scaling is how expensive the item is to repair with raw materials. A value of 1.0 is recommended in most situations. To include a modded item, simply add an entry like this example:

Don't forget to place a comma afterwards if you want to add another entry.

If you wish to remove enchanting caps entirely, then delete the entire contents of the file and leave behind a "{}".
If you wish to remove enchanting caps from only a specific items, then simply delete that entry.

After config changes are made, you can /reload the world without having to quit and restart the game.

Modded Compat:

Most mods will work with Indexed. However, special support is given to the following mods so you won't have to adjust your config if you have these installed:

Leave a comment if there are other mods you want supported. Or alternatively feel free make a pull request on GitHub by editing the "Config" file and "EnchantingTypes" files. If your mod of choice isn't supported, then you may use the config to add support to it.

Important Note About Charm: If you're running Charm, make sure to set "AnvilImprovements" to false so the mod can run. And set the "TotemOfPreserving" to false otherwise the Keeping enchantment will do nothing.
