Create: Better Utils

A Create addon that adds utility blocks, inverted logistics components, and diving helmet upgrades.

Overview

Create: Better Utils extends Create with kinetic lighting, redstone-inverted logistics machines, and night-vision diving helmets that work with Create's backtank system. Several quality-of-life improvements are also included for Create's packagers.

Blocks & Items

Mega Light

A kinetic lamp powered by rotation from below.

• Brightness and radius scale with RPM — faster spin means a brighter, wider light area
• Hostile mob clearing — monsters inside the light radius are destroyed periodically
• Spawn protection — hostile mobs cannot spawn inside an active Mega Light's radius
• Engineer's Goggles show stress, RPM, and the current light radius in blocks

Double Sided Display Board

A Display board that displays on both sides

Contraption Controls

A redstone link panel with 12 programmable buttons. Each button stores a frequency pair (like a Redstone Link) and can display a glyph item as a label.

• 12 buttons per block, each with 3 slots (2 frequency, 1 display)
• Edit frequencies and display items even while the contraption is moving
• Glyph items can be placed in the display slot for custom button labels
• Items are hidden from Jade/Waila overlay

Inverted Packager

A Packager with inverted redstone behaviour.

Useful when you want packaging to run by default and pause on a redstone signal.

Inverted Re-Packager

Same inverted redstone logic as the Inverted Packager, but based on Create's Re-Packager.

Inverted Clutch

A Clutch with inverted redstone behaviour.

The block texture updates to match its state (engaged vs disengaged).

Copper Diving Night Vision Helmet

A Create Copper Diving Helmet upgraded with night vision.

• Grants Night Vision while worn with a Backtank that has pressurized air
• Consumes a small amount of air over time while active
• Shows a backtank air overlay next to the breath bar when the effect is active
• Retains normal diving helmet behaviour underwater

Netherite Diving Night Vision Helmet

The netherite tier of the diving night vision helmet.

Glyphs

Label items for Contraption Controls buttons and frequency filters. Each glyph letter/digit is a separate item.

• 3 tiers available: Brass (gold), Zinc (blue), Andesite (grey)
• 37 glyphs per tier: A-Z, 0-9, and an empty/blank glyph
• 111 glyph items total across all tiers
• Place in a Contraption Controls display slot to label a button
• Organized in their own Creative Tab with brass/zinc/andesite section banners
• All glyphs visible in JEI/EMI item browser

Quality-of-Life Improvements

Nametag Packager Addresses

All Create Packagers and Re-Packagers (including vanilla Create ones) can be assigned a logistics address with a named nametag:

• Right-click the machine with a renamed nametag to set its destination address
• Use an empty nametag to clear the address
• Engineer's Goggles show when an address was set via nametag

Nametag Editor

A custom nametag editing screen is available so you can rename nametags for packager addressing without needing an anvil.

Enchantments

Diving Night Vision Helmet Enchantments

Both diving night vision helmets now support enchantments.

Applies to Protection, Respiration, Aqua Affinity, Unbreaking, and other helm-compatible enchantments.

Processing Data Components

Every Create processing machine now stamps its output with a data component marker and a matching item attribute for use in Create's filter system.

The just_* item attributes can be used with brass funnels, filtered belts, depots, and other Create filter components to sort items by how they were processed.
