Hardcore is great in PVP gameplay because it adds more depth and importance to killing another player. The downside is that sometimes a player will die in an unrelated way and may not get to experience any combat or other gameplay mechanics. BanOnMurder bans a player for an adjustable time if they are killed, but only if by another player.
