Waxed Wood

Apply honeycomb to wood to make it fireproof

Description

Lets you wax wood blocks using honeycomb, either directly by right-clicking on wood with the honeycomb, or by crafting. Waxed wood is fireproof, slightly darker, and sounds more expensive when you walk on it. Currently all vanilla woods are supported, planning to add compat for some biome mods too. There are waxed versions of planks, logs, wood, slabs, fences, gates, and stripped variants.

I made this for SMPs with PvP where people don't build houses out of wood because it's too easy to burn down.

Here are some unwaxed and waxed blocks for oak, spruce, and acacia.

More info:

  • You can un-wax items by crafting them on their own.
  • I didn't add waxed variants of doors, trapdoors, or signposts, because those are already fireproof. You can use waxed wood to craft them, though.
  • Custom sounds for walking on waxed wood - more creaky, deep, and hollow-sounding. There are also sound effects and particles for waxing.
  • Waxing requires 1 honeycomb per waxed wood block, so this is an expensive building material.
