Description

Current version:
✵ ALPHA V0.CA1 ✵
Wastelands of Baedoor invents my own steampunk universe within Minecraft vanilla experience, adding new weapons, materials and mechanics, with subtle care to not ruin vanilla feeling.
Conquer blimps, fight gangs, discover new civilisations and make use of various firearms! Protect your lands with special block making areas unspawnable, or fight mobs with brand new weapons with different ways of fighting! You can also build completely new farms from new materials giving you possibility to farm previously unfarmable resources!
✵
Wastelands of Baedoor actively supports Forge 1.20.1.

* those versions were frozen due to both issues with my MCreator workspace, as well as my burnout that got me into rethinking on how I need to approach modding as a whole

For 1.15 version!
Don't delete config file once it is generated or you can run into crashes! Config file will update itself automatically anyway.
If you deleted the file by any chance, you can download it back from here.

For more wild west feel, I highly recommend Horse Combat Controls mod
(changes horse riding to be more realistic)

WEAPONS
Ranging from classic ones - knives, throwing daggers, throwing axes, javelins, spears, to sabres having distinct mechanics making them most useful in long term.

Revolvers, shotguns and rifles, all with various mechanics (explained in wiki which will be at the end):

STRUCTURES
There are five types of airships floating in the sky of Wastelands of Baedoor mod - you can try to conquer them, if you have enough curiosity. Though be aware - its crew isn't the easiest enemy! You can also try to meet new civilization living in some of these airships... or even establish trade deals!

Some of these airships can also be cursed... but psst, don't talk about that here. You have to find it by yourself. Or read the wiki.
WORLD MECHANICS
Wastelands of Baedoor focuses heavily on expansive, vanilla-friendly farming possibilities (one reason of it author being redstone farm lover). Each version and snapshot aims to extend the ways for it, so as of v0.a11s5, you are able to gather sand, ink sacks, end stone, clay, soul soil, wither roses, jungle wood, blackstone, lava, coral blocks. Even some rare elements such as diamonds, ancient debris, shulker shells and elytras has additional farming possibilities, although do not worry, they are not op by any means.
There are also a lot of mod integrations dedicated on farming and renewability of their resources, so you can perceive WoB as farming megadatapack, sort of.
Below the example of sand farm using sand veils.

If you are a city builder, or mega base builder, you probably always wanted to have spawnproof base, with moody light and without placing carpets/slabs everywhere. If you ever dreamt about beacon having "mob proof" effect, then I wanted to introduce you Nether Avoider. Something maybe even better. This little block is able to obliterate any night mob in vanilla in specific distance. Since v0.a10 version, it is also expanding its use to other mods using avoider_killable Forge tag or NBT value set to true.
(PS Only top block is needed, pillar is made for aesthetic purposes)

BLOCKS & MATERIALS
Chiseled, pillar, stairs, slabs - for all vanilla wood and also integrated with some other mods.

Each for all overworld wood types, bamboo one, one for baedoor gold and two for lapis crystals.

- Horizontal Glass Panes (or Trapdoors), Wooden Framed Glass Panes/Trapdoors
There is a powerful dose of glass variants: horizontal ones (simply glass trapdoors) and 11 different framed versions of them (one for each wood type + two stripped ones + of course, bamboo one)

- Decorations (helpful with enchanting)
There are also new decorations, which will be extended much more in the future. For now though, we have lapis towers, representing Elven Lapis Tower, the home of all mages living in West of Moon Continent. They are decorations, but can be used as a stronger alternative for bookshelves, as shown below.

There are many additional features not mentioned here which you can also find useful (for example, glistering sand, cookable tropical fish or chainmail armor being craftable). But for that I recommend reading the wiki... or finding it by yourself while playing!

Since v0.a10 version (12v0.a2 for 1.12.2) there are introduced various integration/compatibility features for other mods to use. For more information how you can use them in your mod, you can either use this guide or message me.
Attention! Since v0.a11s6c, avoider compatibility is managed by datapacks. You can find all previous compatibilities packed into datapacks here.

Aside from Wastelands of Baedoor, I'm also working on:
- Civilisations of Baedoor, trying to be structure/adventure-themed mod, adding a lot of civilisations to the world and interactions within them. You will be able to discover glorious desert cities of terrifying Tertens, villages of Nordwinds on frozen lands, underground passages with Ant dungeons, mountain cities of Etts and sky cities of Erd civilisation! It will be basically what I added in v0.a10 to WoB, but expanded greatly, so you may be even capable to recruit the army to fight on your server... WIP, with side-dev/texturer being Dylan.
- Spires of Baedoor, trying to be vanilla-themed mod on magic, curses and herbalism, trying to not go too far with its mechanics, since making vanilla-friendly magic is kinda tricky. SoB will use the same universe, expanding some lore elements from WoB (for example, you will be able to use ormath magic showcased in WoB partly). Magical paths will be exclusive, but I will try to also make some "universal" ways to use it. WIP, with side-dev/texturer being Dylan.
- Origin add-on adding Baedoor-related races to the game, with additional integration features with my mods. It is currently WIP by Lyof.

License and copyrights
All rights reserved except for vanilla textures, which are obviously created by Mojang. Glowing obsidian is taken from old versions, and is a tribute for developers and early stage of game which I was able to be part of. Some other vanilla textures was used to create "extended vanilla" features, such as wood variants of blocks.
Some WoB elements were also made by friends of mine, so these are also under their own rights.
Integrated elements for other mods are under licenses of their respective owners (for example, Atum wood textures have ARR license bound to Atum devs). My use of other mods' elements got dev's consent at the time of implementing, or was even asked by dev themselves (depending on project).
If you want to make any add-ons or mod compatibilities, I'm fine with using mod's resources as long as you credit my mod for them and don't try to just blatantly copy-paste the content.
If you want to port my mod to different version of Minecraft, I'd like you to contact me, so I can make quick revision of your work. If you never made any mods before, it's a bit more difficult case, but we may find agreement anyway.
Why All Rights Reserved? You seem to be quite easy on people who wants to port things and such.
Because I am. Never feel afraid to ask me for anything, if this is not harmful for me as an author. I prefer using ARR over MIT/GNU because it gives me much more control over my creative work. And for all cases that people tend to cheese with "not as strict licenses", ARR is perfect solution, since it prohibits anything you can do before you get my approval.
I do not intend to leave modding scene anytime soon, so this also does mean that ARR license won't harm people in case I would abandon my projects - if I ever do so, I will switch license into more free one, or state explicitly that you can port mods to newer versions without my approval. For now you can easily contact with me in a various ways.
________________________________________________________________
Edit as of 2nd May of 2022: I wrote custom license for all my modding creations, called Baedoor Mod License, which is basically ARR with a bit more freedom granted. This means that you can now port the mod without my consent if there's no possibility to contact me at all for over a year - very unlikely possibility, but it is now taken into account.
Modpacks
You can use WoB in your modpack freely! I'd appreciate mentioning my mod in mod list, tho :)
Reposting sites
NFTs
I prohibit all use of my mods for any NFT-related projects. This mod was made for people to enjoy freely. Trying to use it for any paid project - especially in such unethical form - is against all my artistic principles. This should be obvious regarding my use of All Rights Reserved license, but I write it as a counterstrike against NFT users' audacity

Thank you to amazing people on MCreator site, for being so wholesome community, and to Pylo of MCreator for letting me make this mod without a whole lot of coding knowledge. Also thank to all of you who downloaded this mod, commented or gave ideas, this means a lot to me!
I would especially want to thank:
- To my friend Sajevius for many awesome ideas (a lot of them will be introduced in first beta version) and amount of help I can't even describe. Check his awesome mod Betterlands, expanding badlands biome!
- To my friend TotalBlackSmith for ormath models, sounds, ideas and bugfixing help. Check his awesome mod The Arcaneum, adding a lot of new bosses!
- To my friend Dylanvhs for textures. Check his amazing mod The Desolat, adding new sandy dimension!
- To my friend Ddx11 for beautiful logo! Check his intriguing "subtly enhancing" mods!
- Chewdog, for his awesome way to spawn structures, so they avoid bugs that modded structures usually have. Check his marvellous wild west-themed mod!
- Seshua, who helped me at the beginning of creating Nether Avoider. Though I updated its mechanics, I'm really thankful that I was able to have such important block that early thanks to his coding guidance.
- Shadetree, for beautiful model of jungle airship (included in mod). Check his fascinating mod on microscale Minecraft!
- Mowzie and Forstride (respectively, Mowzie's Mobs and Biomes o' Plenty devs) for extremely helpful tips regarding mod integration, thanks to which I can extend it greatly.
- Julie Dillon for allowing me to use her art as avatar. Check her fabulous drawings!
Thanks a lot, and see you on airship!

Baedoor mods are proudly made with MCreator, with almost no code to its features.
This is not meant to be "ignorance arrogance", but rather showcase of how much is possible without coding and huge "thank you" for community that supported me for whole time, allowing me to make my small dream come true.
✵
If you avoid MCreator mods, then go ahead, but you are only hurting yourself - missing a lot of great mods because of your presuppositions.
