PLEASE READ: I have made a resourcepack linked here that you can download. It does the same thing, but works for versions 1.14 through 1.20.
This mod utilized the default available sun and moon_phases pngs, to create more circular variants that still adhere to the game's blocky aestetic.
This mod is purely client side.
Cross compatability for different versions of minecraft TBD.
For anyone interested in the creation process, I opened the minecraft java 1.20.1 jar file with 7-Zip. Next, I modified them in Krita. Lastly, I tested that everything still worked in a java Gradle project, wherein I built the required jar file to submit to CurseForge.
