Addons Farmer's Delight Food

Ranch.

Now Available: Ranch 2.0 — The Sauce & Sacrifice Update

Ranch has escaped the bottle.

Ranch Trails. Ranch Puddles. Jugs of Ranch. Forbidden rituals. Universal Ranch.

Food was only the beginning.

Guys… it’s ranch. Do I need to say more?

Inspired by the world discovering America’s favorite condiment, Ranch. is a lightweight, vanilla-friendly mod built around one simple idea:

Put ranch on food.
Eat the food.
Become better.

If Minecraft considers it edible, it can probably be ranched.

Apples? Ranch.
Bread? Ranch.
Steak? Obviously ranch.
Rotten Flesh? Unfortunately ranch.
Enchanted Golden Apple? Especially ranch.

Ranch 2.0: The Sauce & Sacrifice Update

The ranch has escaped the bottle.

Ranch can now spread across the ground as connected Ranch Trails, gather into Ranch Puddles, guide passive animals and villagers, fill cauldrons, and eventually become part of a ritual that should probably never have been attempted.

2.0 adds:

  • Ranch Trails and Ranch Puddles
  • Passive animal and villager trail-following
  • The Jug of Ranch
  • Ranch-filled cauldrons
  • The Forbidden Recipe
  • A forbidden ranch ritual
  • The Universal Ranch
  • The ability to make non-food items edible

Tools.
Weapons.
Armor.
Blocks.

Items that were never emotionally prepared to become dinner.

Crafting and Usage

Craft a Ranch Bottle, then apply it to almost any edible item.

To use ranch:

  1. Hold the Ranch Bottle in one hand.
  2. Hold any edible item in your other hand.
  3. Right-click to add ranch.

Crafting Recipe:

Ranched food keeps its original name and item data, works with vanilla foods and most modded foods automatically, and can only be ranched once.

There are rules.
Not many.
But there are rules.

Okay fine, for the numbers people

By default, ranched foods gain:

+25% Hunger
+25% Saturation

Both bonuses are configurable.

Ranch Bottles have 32 uses and return a Glass Bottle when emptied.

Ranch Trails and Puddles

Ranch can be placed directly onto the ground.

One use creates a Ranch Trail.

Use ranch on the same spot again and it becomes a Ranch Puddle.

Trails visually connect across the world, including one-block height changes. Nearby passive animals and villagers can follow connected trails toward Ranch Puddles.

Yes.

You can now build ranch-based public transportation.

Jug of Ranch

Sometimes 32 uses simply is not enough.

The Jug of Ranch combines multiple Ranch Bottles into one deeply reasonable container with 256 uses.

It can:

  • Ranch food
  • Place Ranch Trails
  • Create Ranch Puddles
  • Fill cauldrons with ranch

When emptied, it returns a Bucket.

This is considered family size.

Universal Ranch

Some items are not edible.

This was an oversight.

The Universal Ranch can apply ranch to non-food items and make them edible.

Universal-ranched items receive food values based on rarity and can be eaten like normal food.

You wanted to eat a Diamond Sword?

No?

Well, now the option exists.

Forbidden Recipe

The Universal Ranch cannot be crafted.

It must be summoned.

The Forbidden Recipe book contains the ritual pattern and instructions required to create it using:

  • Ranch Trails
  • Ranch Puddles
  • Cauldrons filled with ranch
  • A Nether Star
  • Questionable judgment

Build the ritual correctly, make the offering, and hope the Ranch Gods find your work sufficiently flavorful.

Build it incorrectly and they will let you know.

Features

  • Apply ranch to vanilla and most modded foods
  • Configurable hunger and saturation bonuses
  • 32-use Ranch Bottle
  • 256-use Jug of Ranch
  • Connected Ranch Trails and Ranch Puddles
  • Passive animal and villager trail-following
  • Ranch-filled cauldrons
  • Ritual-summoned Universal Ranch
  • Make non-food items edible
  • Custom sounds, particles, item overlays, ritual effects, and advancements
  • AppleSkin compatibility where supported
  • Multiplayer-safe
  • Available across Forge, NeoForge, and Fabric

Modpack Options

For modpack creators who fear the power of ranch, several behaviors can be adjusted.

Config options include:

  • Change hunger bonuses
  • Change saturation bonuses
  • Disable bonuses for powerful “god foods”
  • Exclude specific items from ranch bonuses
  • Disable the Universal Ranch ritual

So yes, you can stop players from putting ranch on divine reality-bending apples.

You can also prevent them from performing forbidden condiment rituals.

But should you?

Advancements

Ranch. includes advancements for players who insist on exploring the full consequences of dressing.

Including:

  • Hidden Valley
  • Everything Gets Ranch
  • That’s Illegal.
  • They Were Right…
  • American Cuisine
  • Follow the Dressing
  • You Can Lead a Cow to Ranch…
  • …Apparently You Can Lead a Villager Too
  • Costco Behavior
  • A Reasonable Use of a Nether Star
  • Forbidden Recipe
  • Forbidden Dressing
  • No Item Is Safe
  • Why Would You Do That?

And more.

Final Notes

This mod still does not add machines.

It still does not add crops.

It still does not add a complicated condiment processing pipeline.

It adds ranch.

There is just significantly more of it now.
