Description

Don't want the hassle of tearing down and rebuilding beacons wherever you go? Then this is the mod for you!

Craft the Beacon Backpack, infuse it with one or more beacon effects and enjoy your tasty effects everywhere!

Curios API is a required dependency for this mod.

Install Patchouli to enable the in-game guide book.

Items:

  • Beacon Backpack. This wearable item applies Beacon effects to yourself and players around you (configurable). Comes in five tiers of increasing range and maximum number of effects. Right click an active Beacon or Conduit (configurable) to copy it's effects onto the backpack. Can be worn in the Curios back slot
  • Potion Necklace. This wearable applies a potion effect to yourself. Different effects can be chosen by crafting. Can be worn in the Curios neck slot.
  • Infused Dagger. This weapon applies a potion effect to the entity hit. Different effects can be chosen by crafting.
  • Bonk Stick. This weapon looks cool, is rather fast and removes potion effects from entities that are hit by it.
  • Starberry: applies Glowing and half a heart of damage when eaten.
  • Infused Star: currently no uses

Blocks:

  • Diffuser. Applies the effects of a potion you put into it to players nearby when it recieves a Redstone signal. Potions can be input and glass bottles can be output by hoppers. Provides a comparator output related to the potion duration left.
  • Nether Star Block. Decorational block, can be used in a Beacon Base
  • Starberry Bush. Inflicts some damage and applies Glowing to entities moving inside it. Can be obtained by planting Sweetberries on a Nether Star Block

Structures:

  • Workshop Room. Small underground structure with some loot and a Diffuser

Commands:

  •  /portable_beacons infuse <add|clear> <effect> <duration> <amplifier> Can be used to add and clear effects from a held item. This makes it even easier to customize this mod's items to your modpack.

Mod Integration:

  • Curios API: Required dependency to allow me to code the wearables
  • Patchouli: When this mod is installed, a guide book for Portable Beacons becomes available.
  • Netherite Plus: The Netherite Beacon from this mod can be used to apply effects to the Beacon Backpack. (can be disabled in config)
  • Alex's Mobs: Some effects from this mod can be applied to the Potion Necklace or Infused Dagger
  • Configured & Catalogue
  • Lootr works with this mod's loot chests.

This mod is compatible with most 1.16 Forge mods that mess with Beacons, including but not limited to: Better Beacon Effect, Configurable Beacons, Magic Feather, Beacon Chunkloaders and Better Beacon Placement.

For modpack authors:

Every crafting recipe in the game can be changed using data packs.

Because the Portable Beacons mod uses the vanilla Potion and CustomPotionEffects nbt tags, you can add any and all effects you want to a Beacon Backpack, Infused Dagger and Potion Necklace (even modded effects work!) using commands or CraftTweaker.

So if you feel like your pack needs Levitation Beacon Backpacks or Instant Damage necklaces, you can totally make those!

See here for an example datapack, that adds compatibility for the potion effects from Alex's Mobs (outdated, as this datapack is now part of the main mod. It still works as an example, though)
