1.15.2+ Description
How Fortunate! will (eventually) unite all types of ores under consistent item drops which can be affected by fortune.
Currently, the following ores are supported:
- iron
- gold
- copper
- lead
- silver
- platinum
- nickel
- tin
- cobalt
- osmium
- zinc
- aluminum
- uranium
- bismuth
- bauxite
- tungsten
- mythril
As of 2.3-1.15.2, How Fortunate is now compatible with Compact Ores. As such, How Fortunate will not be adding its own implementation in 1.15+ of dense ores. Please use Compact Ores instead for this functionality.
If there are any mods which provide the above metals whose blocks do not drop the chunk item, please let me know and I will investigate. There is one exception: omegacraft. Because its source is not visible I am not able to determine how its blocks are dropped in the world and for some reason I cannot intercept them as I can with other mods. In order for HF to be compatible with omegacraft, OC will need to make changes to how their blocks are dropped.
All items should be tagged with their appropriate categories to ensure that they are usable by any mode which properly uses tagged crafting recipes (what used to be the oreDict). If an item does not work in a specific recipe, please reach out to the mod which provided it and have them modify their recipes to use block and item tags.
There is currently no configuration for the 1.15 version, however it is on the way. The 1.12 version has extensive configuration options available.

How Fortunate! aims to ease this burden!
HF unifies (many) ore drops into single, stackable drops that are also affected by Fortune. (The fortune effect may also be toggled off in the config, if desired)
Out of the box, it supports all variations* of the following:
- Iron
- Gold
- Copper
- Tin
- Aluminum

- Lead
- Osmium
- Manganese
- Nickel
- Platinum
- Ardite

- Cinnabar (Thaumcraft)
- Silicon (Silicon Mod)

In order to ensure compatibility, (and keep the inventory usage down) many of the above metals smelt into an ingot provided by HF. These are oreDicted and should work exactly the same as long as other mods use properly oreDicted recipes.
In addition to the above, you may randomly find "Dense" versions of the vanilla ores, which yield 3x their drop and are rare enough to be a nice surprise.
As of 2.4, How Fortunate! now includes configuration options. Don't want all your ores to be dense? Say no more! Want only iron dense? You can do that! What's more, you can now generate non-vanilla ores for use with dense ores. It is best to disable generation of said ores in other mods first, or else they'll just be too many. I tried to make the default ore options an average of how they spawn in other mods, but if you don't like the way I've done it, you can configure that too!
Non-vanilla ore generation is OFF by default, but can be easily enabled via the in-game config.
If you want to use this in a mod pack, no permission is necessary! Just please do not rehost this mod on other websites.
This mod was inspired by both Fortune Ores and Dense Ores, both of which have either failed to have been ported to newer versions or have had lackluster ports. That being said, I will not be porting below 1.12
As of 2.7, ore chunks can be crafted in a 2x2 pattern into a Compressed Ore Chunk. These can be crafted back into four of the original ores. These save space when mining and can be crafted directly from the inventory.
*only if the ore is properly registered with the OreDictionary. If a mod's version of the above metal does not work, that means they did not properly register them to the Ore Dictionary and will need to do so. I will not go out of my way to add support for metals that are not oredicted, but I will pre-add them assuming an ore dict entry will be coming in the future..

How to Install
Download Forge & Java
Download Forge from the offical Site or here. If you dont have Java installed then install it now from here. After Downloading Forge you can run the file with Java.
Prepare
Lounch Minecraft and select your Forge istallation as Version this will create a Folder called Mods.
Add Mods
Type Win+R and type %appdata% and open the .minecraft Folder. There will you find your Folder called Mods. Place all Mods you want to play in this Folder
Enjoy
You are now Ready. Re-start your Game and start Playing.
