A: Yes, please provide as much relevant information as possible like the mod version, what caused the problem, any relevant mods you are playing with etc.

A: No. These textures are my own personal work and represent my own personal taste and style. I want these textures to remain paired with my own projects.

A2: You can build off of my mod by using the tag system that Minecraft and Forge use. EX: data/forge/tags/items/gems/<GemName>

Q: Why is a feature missing from one version of the mod to another?

A: Unfortunately, I am always trying to improve the mod and sometime I have to change, remove, or recreate certain features.

1.20.1

Aims to be more vanilla friendly and more compatible with other mods.

Two-Handed weapon trouble - Try enabling drop crafting in the config and then dragging and dropping Two-Handed weapons onto a ring to upgrade them.

Crowns & Taxing Villagers

Crowns can be crafted and worn to claim lordship over villagers. Interacting with a villager while wearing a crown will claim them. After they are claimed, the player can collect taxes from them once every 8 days (one full cycle of moon phases). Each employed villager will pay 1 emerald per job mastery level. Nitwits pay with seeds but sometimes diamonds. A villager can owe up to 3 cycles of taxes (24 days). Players cannot claim or tax villagers that have already been claimed by other players.

World Generation

Beta versions of 1.20 will not have any world generation or non-vanilla blocks. Gems can be found from mining Lapis, Redstone, Diamond, Amethyst Clusters, and Quartz. This way the mod can be added to existing worlds without players missing out on ore spawns. Additionally, it will be easier for players to remove the mod and resume playing in vanilla/modded if they wish. Finally, it allows for much quicker mod updates. Release versions of the mod will have ore generation and custom blocks like older versions of the mod.

Upgrading Tools

Swords, Pickaxes, Axes, Shovels, Hoes, Bows, and Enchanted Books can all be upgraded by applying a jeweled ring to them. By using a ring on a smithing table while holding the tool in your off-hand you will increase the Luck and Armor of the tool by +2. Additionally, the tool will track and display a count of mobs slain. Rings can be swapped out using the same technique with a different ring. Modded tools can also be upgraded in the same way but the jeweled textures will not show. The jeweled textures are implemented using CustomModelData in a data pack. This way, players/mod developers can implement their own appearance for jeweled modded tools through data packs.

Jeweled BooksUpgrading tools with a smithing table

Luck

A new utility added to the luck stat, Luck increases the chance of a lucky strike which deals 200% damage and recovers durability. Entities hit by a lucky strike will drop EXP. Blocks broken by a lucky strike will drop EXP. Maximum luck is considered 20 Luck.

Villagers & Wandering Traders

Jeweled rings can be given to villagers as a bribe, improving their relationship with you and lowering the cost of trades. Gemstones can be used on villagers to change the currency they accept. Wandering traders will accept gemstones in exchange for common emeralds. Based on the biome they are in, wandering traders will exchange gemstones that they consider exotic for more emeralds. In general, exchanging any gemstone with a wandering trader will net more value than trading them to a villager.

Enchanted Rings

Enchanted Rings cannot be crafted through known means. Instead they must be found in Dungeon Chests, Desert Pyramids, Jungle Temples, or Buried Treasure. They are named in the same runic language seen in enchantment tables. An enchanted ring can be used like a potion to grant magical effects or it can be worn (with the Curios mod installed) for a continuous stream of the magical effect. Each use drains the durability of the ring until it is about to break. Then it drains experience from the user. If the user does not have experience, it will do nothing.
Enchanted Ring found in Dungeon

Configuration

Features can be disabled using config files. Tooltips and stat trackers can be disabled in the common config found in the config folder. Villager taxing, currency changing, bribing, and magic ring spawn rate can be configured per world under saves/<worldname>/serverconfig. Server configs are synced across all players in the world.

Biome configuration works through data packs. By overriding biome modifiers under data/gemsnjewels/forge/biome_modifier players can customize which features are enabled/disabled and which biomes certain ores generate in.

Upgrading Tools

Swords, Pickaxes, Axes, and Bows can be upgraded by combining a gem set ring with the tool. For modded weapons, you can upgrade the tool by right clicking a smithing table while holding the ring in your main-hand and the tool in your off hand. You can also swap the current ring using this technique.

When a tool is upgraded, it will gain a set of three perks and trackers like the number of mobs slain or ores mined. The tools will gain levels as you use them and will unlock perks as you hit higher levels. When all three perks are unlocked, the perks will begin to gain tiers and their power will grow.

Here are some lists of the current available perks. Not all perks roll on all tools.

Power Perk ListUtility Perk ListTrait Perk List

Re-rolling Perks

To change the perks on a tool, you'll need to craft a Runestone. While holding the Runestone in your main-hand and the tool in your off-hand, crouch and right click an anvil to re-roll the perks on the weapon. The perk selection is partially tied to the ring equipped on the tool. If you aren't getting the power perks you're looking for, try swapping the ring on the tool.

New villager trade mechanic

Interacting with Villagers and Wandering Traders

Gemstones can be used to change the currency villagers accept. Simply crouch and right click a villager while holding the gem you would like to trade with. This process can be reversed by using a vanilla emerald.

Villagers can be bribed with gem set rings. By crouching and right clicking a villager while holding a ring, you will gift the villager the ring and improve their relationship with you. This can reduce the cost of trades and improve your relationship with other nearby villagers.

Wandering traders with accept gemstones in exchange for vanilla emeralds. Simply crouch and right click the wandering trader while holding the gem you would like to exchange. Some gemstones are worth more than others.

Display of crowns and treasuresA display of some of the mobs that can be summoned

Crowns, Keys, and Treasure

When crowns are crafted, they keep track of when, where, and who they were crafted by. They also keep track of who wore it last. The crown provides the wearer damage resistance in the biome it was crafted in.

Keys can be used on mob spawners to summon treasure burdened mobs. Some may be wearing exclusive armor or wielding exclusive weapons. When a treasure burdened mob is hurt it may spawn other mobs as reinforcements and/or become enraged. While enraged the mob gets damage resistance, strength, and speed for a short duration. When a treasure burdened mob is slain it will drop additional loot as well as any special weapons or armor.
