Description
Gemeralds
Hi everyone! This is my very first published mod so please be gentle! :D (Constructive feedback is always appreciated)
What is Gemeralds?
Gemeralds is meant to be a lightweight currency mod that both adds to, yet compliments vanilla Minecraft, but could also be used in larger modpacks as well. Currently it only adds five new items, but I have plans to add more features in the future.
Why did you name this mod Gemeralds?
Why wouldn't I name this mod Gemeralds?
What does this mod do?
It adds five new tiers/colors of emeralds that are worth different amounts (Think rupees from The Legend of Zelda). The values of each emerald are:
Emerald = 1 (This is the vanilla emerald)
Blue Emerald = 4
Pink Emerald = 8
Orange Emerald = 16
Yellow Emerald = 32
White Emerald = 64
Why does this mod exist?
I wanted to add my own spin on a currency mod that keeps emeralds as the vanilla currency. Also to provide modpack users, map makers, server owners, etc. the tools to implement a currency system into their worlds fairly seamlessly without much setup or without complicated commands.
Common uses for this mod could be:
-Banking/currency system
-Game prizes
-Dungeon loot
-Mob loot
-Other types of loot or prizes
How do I obtain the higher emerald tiers?
Currently, the only way to obtain the higher emerald tiers is either through the creative menu in the Miscellaneous tab, or by crafting them from the base emeralds (see screenshots for how to craft the next tiers). I have considered adding these to the loot tables for mobs and dungeon chests, but I'm not sure yet how to add to a vanilla loot table without overriding it and I don't want to conflict with anyone else's mod that also adds to vanilla loot tables. If anyone knows how to do this and would be willing to talk me through it (I'm still very much learning), I would be more than happy to implement this if it's wanted. For now, anyone is more than welcome to create their own data packs to add these using the following ID's:
gemeralds:emerald_four
gemeralds:emerald_eight
gemeralds:emerald_sixteen
gemeralds:emerald_thirtytwo
gemeralds:emerald_sixtyfour
Will you make this for 1.X.X version?
I currently have no plans to back port this mod, however I will consider doing a 1.14.2 version if I get enough requests for it. A 1.16.1 version is already in the works. (I will not be modding for any versions older than 1.14)
Shortly after I made this I had to take a second job so I have had very little time for other things so I am not sure if/when I will be able to update this mod. However, since it is a very simple mod, I have no problems with anyone else making their own version as long as they credit me for the concept.
Possible upcoming features:
- Rare chances for the items to spawn in chests or be dropped by mobs (please PM me if anyone knows how to add to, but not replace, a vanilla loot table)
- A gem bag to hold all your emeralds
- A traders table to set up a custom trade/shop (With both a limited inventory, and unlimited options)
I am always looking for feedback or suggestions. If anything is wrong, or if you have any other ideas as to how I can make this better, leave a comment or PM me!
