Frozen Rails
A very simple transport mod that adds faster minecart rails at affordable survival-mode crafting costs.
It adds two additional tiers of rails: steel (2x speed) and frozen (3x speed). The new rails are easy to use: The higher-tier rails cost the same iron as vanilla rails, but add an additional cost of coal/charcoal, a small amount of blaze powder, and (for frozen rails) packed ice. They can be created directly from ingots or upgraded from lower-tier rails.
For going around curves without derailing or to go up slopes, slow down by using vanilla rails.
Furnace minecarts aren't currently affected. (Sorry! They work differently from the others, and I haven't figured it out yet.)
Create mod contraptions seem to work, but need vanilla rails for cart assemblers.
Currently just for Forge 1.16.5.
Crafting recipes:
Base ingredients:
Steel coke: Made from coal or charcoal and a bit of blaze powder.
Raw rail steel ingots: Made from steel coke and iron ingots.
Rail steel ingots: Made by baking raw rail steel ingots in a blast furnace.
Frozen steel ingots: Made by crafting rail steel ingots with packed ice.
Rail crafting:
Steel rails: Made from steel ingots.
Steel powered rails: Made from steel rails, gold, and redstone dust.
Frozen rails: Made from frozen steel ingots.
Frozen powered rails: Made from frozen rails, gold, and redstone dust.
Rail upgrade crafting:
Steel rails: Upgraded with a slab of rail steel coke. (Crafted using normal slab recipe) This skips the blast furnace step, but costs a little extra coal/charcoal and blaze powder compared to crafting steel rails directly from ingots.
Frozen rails: Upgraded with a slab of packed ice. (Crafted using normal slab recipe) Costs a little extra packed ice compared to crafting frozen rails directly from ingots.
