Description

Welcome to Exotic Birds!

This mod adds in more than 30 new birds to your Minecraft world, spawning in a variety of different biomes. Hear woodpeckers pecking high up in the trees, see swans swimming about in rivers, or listen to the lyrebird mimicking its environment. This mod helps to bring your world to life!

Birds

Once the mod is installed, the different types of birds will be found across the world. Each bird also has multiple species, bringing the total number of birds to more than 100! 

The mod features a wide range of new birds, including: 

Eggs

Each bird has its own egg that it will spawn in the world every so often. Eggs spawn with a 30% hatching success rate, though this can be improved in two ways:

1) Combining the egg with blaze powder will increase the spawn rate by 15% (10% in 1.14+).

2) An egg incubator can be used to increase the success rate by 5% (10% in 1.14+) for many eggs at once.

Nests

Nests are interactive blocks that can be used to store eggs and eggshell. They can be right clicked to open an inventory. They generate naturally across the world and are commonly found on top of trees. Nests that generate may contain with bird eggs and may sometimes contain unidentified eggs.

Nests can also be crafted and if birds are nearby, will very slowly accumulate eggs.

Note: Nests are not used to incubate eggs - instead the egg incubator is needed for that task.

Bird Encyclopedia

The mod includes a detailed bird encyclopedia which will provide information on the birds within the mod. You may search for a bird using the search bar, or by finding its entry in the list. Each entry will display a model of the bird and its data, such as its favourite food, habitat and gender. It will also list the different items used to tempt, breed and tame them (if possible). Craft by surrounding a book with feathers!

Use this book to try and discover all the birds in your world!

Birdcages

Birdcages are new to the 1.12.2 version and can be used to transport birds over long distances. There are 8 different types of cage that can be crafted and used to enhance the beauty of your worlds. These blocks can be placed down and used to keep your birds safe! 

To use the birdcages:

1) Right click a bird to capture it inside a cage. 

2) Birds can be released from their cage by placing and breaking the cage.

3) Crouch and break the cage to keep the bird inside its cage.

Egg Identifier

The egg identifier is used to analyse unidentified eggs that are found in nests. Place the unidentified eggs in the top left slot and redstone dust in the slot below it. The eggs will slowly be identified and could turn into ANY bird egg - even the mystical phoenix egg!

Note: There's always a chance that analysing an egg may fail. If this happens, it may only produce eggshell - or sometimes nothing at all!

Egg Incubator

The egg incubator is used to increase the hatching chance of a bird egg. Place any bird eggs in the top of the incubator and power the machine with blaze powder. The machine will gently warm your eggs and increase each eggs spawn chance to 100%.

Compatibility

All versions of the mod are FULLY compatible with Biomes O' Plenty.

The bird eggs are FULLY compatible with the recipes from Pam's HarvestCraft. PH2 will be coming soon.

The 1.12.2 version of this mod is compatible with the Bird's Nests mod.

Also in 1.12.2, dark-forest specific birds will generate in the Twilight Forest.

How to Install
