Description

Banner for the mod

Eclectic adds a handful of random, semi-magical features to the game, none of which provide a particularly large increase in player power. The goal is for the features to be fun, a little odd, and occasionally even useful.

Here's a full list of features added by the mod:

Pointer

Short Pointer Demo
Demo
A redstone-powered laser pointer! The beam scatters off the "visual" bounding box of blocks and entites it touches, meaning it can move through glass and along the surface of slabs and stairs. Shining the light into most mobs' eyes will blind them momentarily, and cats that see the dot will run towards it at high speeds!

Trapdoor Hammer

A hammer that can prevent trapdoors from opening! Hit them once to get them stuck into place, and hit them again to free them.

Many modded wooden trapdoors can be locked this way as well!

Emotional Obsidian

By exposing it to a Ghast Tear, it is possible to awaken the true emotions that Crying Obsidian normally keeps locked away. This gives rise to five different colorful Emotional Obsidian blocks, each with unique properties.

Weeping Obsidian

Weeping Obsidian Texture  Weeping Obsidian lets out crying particles more often. Exposing it to rain or other dimensions will allow it to express its emotions further.

Sobbing Obsidian

Sobbing Obsidian Texture  Sobbing Obsidian is slippery with its own tears and cries water. Letting it dry out will return it to its Weeping form.

Raging Obsidian

Raging Obsidian Texture  Raging Obsidian burns with vengeful power. While in the Nether, it will periodically ignite nearby entities.

Mourning Obsidian

Mourning Obsidian Texture  Mourning Obsidian is formed by putting Raging Obsidian face-to-face with the nihilistic void of the End. It repels any who attempt to move across it.

Wandering Obsidian

Wandering Obsidian's Texture  Wandering Obsidian is made when Mourning Obsidian revisits the Nether. It moves restlessly through unoccupied spaces.

Mind Lantern

Mind Lantern Demo

The Mind Lantern is a psychic lantern which attunes itself to others' insomnia. Placing or right-clicking the lantern will cause it to light up green if you are in danger of being attacked by phantoms at night due to lack of sleep. An Eye of Ender can also be used to change it to the active state.

Phantom Quilt

Phantom Quilt Demo

This floating quilt negates all fall damage. If you fall a certain distance (configurable) with one in your inventory, it will deploy beneath you, saving you from a dangerous fall.

Sconces

Sconces Demo

The Sconce is a decorative block with a magical feel. Using various items on it changes its color and properties.
To get the sconces pictured above, from left to right, use: Amethyst Shard, Glowstone Dust, Blaze Powder, and Soul Soil.

Configuration

All "player power" granting features, including the pointer's blinding ability, the parachute ability of the quilt and the more esoteric properties of some obsidian types, can be disabled in the config. A number of parameters for ranges and such can be adjusted there as well.

Usage

The mod is under the MIT License, which means you can do anything you want with it. If you use it in a modpack, I'd love to know about it!
