Small improvements to biome vegetation while staying true to vanilla!

Created by Apollo

Diversify is a mod that aims to add small improvements to the vegetation in Minecraft's overworld biomes (primarily the forest biomes) without feeling too out of place compared to vanilla.

This mod is for Fabric only. There will not be a Forge version!

Why this mod exists

I have built this mod to fix a few of the minor gripes I have with vanilla's world generation. Other mods that I've seen improve vanilla biomes either do very little or resort to spamming structures everywhere. Diversify aims to improve vanilla biomes without custom building every feature in generation.

Issues with vanilla generation (and how Diversify addresses them)
  • There is little difference in different parts of a biome, making them feel monotonous.
Diversify makes many vegetation features of biomes based on noise. Basically, this means different parts of a forest can have different densities of trees, different average tree heights, different types of mushrooms, and more.
  • Very few blocks compose a biome, making them feel boring and not like they're actually "alive".
Diversify adds a handful of rock types and patches of blocks on the ground to many of the biomes to improve the general atmosphere of them.
Some areas of forests may have denser tree placement than other areas of the same forest. In some cases, you may even find a clearing inside of a forest biome.

Fallen logs can generate in some biomes, with fungi and/or moss rarely on top.

Coarse dirt, podzol and gravel patches can sometimes generate on the surface.

Birch trees can sometimes have branches, and those branches can sometimes have beehives attached to them.
