Description

ATTENTION!

The Rice works now for 1.20.1!

the latest version for 1.20.1 is fixed now but with changes to the Rice Crop.

For more details on the new Rice:

How do I obtain it?

You can now find the new rice item by destroying the wild rice that naturally spawns. The new drop is Rice wich will be used to plant the new crop. Wich will not spawn naturally like Sugarcane does. Also, keep in mind that the new Rice item is different from older versions. So do not use older rice items as of this version renamed to "Broken Rice" for this.

How do I grow it?

It functions like Sugarcane does and you can grow it by using Mud blocks, rooted or plain, to grow the Rice. Right click with the Rice item to plant it on the mud. Unlike Sugarcane, you will not have to plant near water since Mud includes water. If you aren't in a Mangrove Biome, you can still make mud by right clicking on dirt with a water bottle in hand. This is a vanilla feature for anyone wondering.

How tall does it grow?

It grows 2 blocks tall. 1 less than Sugarcane does. For a bigger yield, use the space carefully. The lack of the water limitations will come in handy in case you are tight on space.

I did also fix the Snail Spawn issue so they should spawn again. Please let me know if there is any more issues in this new version. but everything should work now.

Thank you as well for being so patient everyone! I really appreciate it!

Swamp Expansion Mod by Daleeny

(Rice only works like a traditional farm crop until 1.19. After 1.19, it works like Sugarcane due to some issues I could not resolve sadly.)

This Swamp Expansion adds a few more vanilla features to the swamp biome. Those are both Decorative and useful expansions.

The New Wild Rice and It's crop variant:

(Bonemeal use as of now is not functional for the new rice crop but I am planning to fix this in the future.)

If you are visiting the swamp with this mode enabled, you'll now come across a new wild plant type called wild rice. If broken, the plant will have a chance of dropping new rice seeds wich can be grown on farmland. Simmilar to Wheat, Rice has 7 growth stages and when ready for harvest (final stage looks golden), the rice crop in question will drop 1 Rice. This Rice bundle item can then also be crafted in a crafting bench to get 4 more seeds. (At this time you can't get seeds from the final crop stage but the seed drop upon the final stage may be implemented later.)

How to cook the rice and make nice meals from it:

To cook the rice you'll first have to add it to a water bucket in the crafting bench by putting the rice above it. Once in the bucket, put it in any oven and let it cook. when done it'll give you a pile of cooked rice ready to be eaten or processed further into other meals.

Other rice related recipes:

- Sushi (You'll need 3 cooked rice, raw salmon, a carrot and dried kelp)

- Dango: (You'll need a stick, 1 cooked rice, and a pile of sugar)

Fried Rice: (You'll need a bowl, 1 cooked rice, 1 cooked chicken and 1 carrot)

Cattail and it's edible Root:

Cattail is another new decorative plant that is 2 blocks high and breaks like grass but with a special twist! If broken, cattail has a random chance of dropping it's root wich just like in real life, can be eaten both cooked and raw. To cook it, you just have to use any furnce but the campfire also works and while it doesn't have to be cooked for safe consumption, it does benefit you more to cook it before eating due to it's increased saturation and hunger values when cooked.

The new Swamp specific Mushrooms:

On your journey to the swamp you'll also come across 4 types of new mushrooms. Collecting all 6 Mushrooms now and crafting them with a bowl will now give you a special new food item called: Perfect Mushroom Stew. (Gives you no potion effects as of yet.)

Those are:

- The Blue Mushroom (Emits natural light and serves as a new decorative light item if crafted into the new Blue Mushroom Jar.)

- The Purple Mushroom (Emits only a little amount of natural light.)

- The White Mushroom

- The Orange Mushroom

About the New Mushroom Jar item and the Mushroom Basket:

Both items can be placed as fully modelled 3D items in the game if you put them on any surface. The Blue Mushroom Jar is a decorative new light source and the Mushroom Basket is a decorative functional Basket Item that can also be opened with a right click and mushrooms can be stored inside of it (Only when placed on ground as of yet) just make sure to sort them right ;) .

Plans for the future:

As of now, the mod only features the above stated features. But I am planning to implement a willow tree to partially replace Oak in the Swamp for future versions as well as a feature to bonemeal the Rice crop and maybe giving the new mushrooms a big variant as well but I'm not sure about that yet. More news about that will come in future updates.

Do you have any suggestions?

If you have ideas to further add to this swamp expansion feel free to list them in the comments. If I like your ideas I may add them in future updates. :)
