Description

A small MCreator project that adds a few new materials to the Nether and End to fill some interesting new niches. Initially made for personal use, but I figured I'd throw it out there anyway and see what happens.

  • Brimsteel is a fairly common ore found all over the Nether, which makes tools and armor that have low mining speed, attack damage, or protection but very high durability, great for tedious mining projects if you don't want to waste a higher-tier material, and a number of decorative blocks are craftable with it too. Legends say it is an impure Netherite alloy as well; perhaps there's a way to reclaim some of that former glory…
  • Infurium is a crystal found at moderate Y levels in the Nether, sharing territory with the lava lakes; it can be used as a fuel that lasts twice as long as coal in both item and block form, great for heavy-duty smelting projects.
  • Water Essence is a fairly rare Nether ore found scattered in small clumps. The dust you get from it can be crafted into a block that turns into obsidian when it touches lava, similar to concrete and allowing one to build a Nether portal from within the dimension, or brewing it into empty bottles will produce water bottles for hellbound potion making!
  • You can also craft it into Obsidian Ingots, which make powerful tools and armor in-between iron and diamond in terms of power… except that they only have about 40 durability. Upgrading them in a Smithing Table with Crying Obsidian will let them regenerate any damage taken fairly quickly, however, making an excellent choice for tools you don't use too often!
  • Abystal is a strange mineral found near the top of the Nether, with a variety of esoteric uses relating to warping stuff around in relation to the Void; the Totem of Relocation will teleport you to the build limit if you fall into the endless abyss, and Slipgates warp anything that lands on them 10 blocks up or down, switchable freely by right-clicking! Don't worry about getting stuck on the Nether roof either; there's some Slipgates dotted around up there now, too.
  • Gatea Crystals are found in the End, speckled uncommonly among the edges of islands facing out into the void. Aside from making an awesome decoration and light source, you can craft them into Crystal Portals that will form your very own End portal anywhere you please, or Dimensional Pearls to freely warp between dimensions- just be aware that they don't change your coordinates, so you'll probably end up either in freefall or a wall.
  • By combining Dimensional Pearls and some Abystal, you can form the mighty Bedrock Phaseshifter, which is capable of removing blocks of bedrock by simply phasing them out of reality! Now go have fun with your voids and such.
Credit where credit's due:
  • Brimsteel's ingot and block textures were created by /u/monospace in this ancient Reddit post
  • Infurium and Abystal's textures are modified from the Painterly Pack- it's a goldmine, really
  • Water Essence's ore and dust textures come from Nethercraft Classic, and the general concept from the original Nethercraft; it's a great mod that I love a lot
  • Gatea Crystals' texture is the original End Portal Frame appearance from way back in the first snapshots from when the strongholds were being developed- I always liked the texture and wanted to give it new life!
Feel free to use this in modpacks or do anything else you'd like with it (within reason), of course!
