To prevent this, you can wear a moss or paper mask, or fill up a bottle of air before descending into the cave. To craft a moss mask, you need to take 4 pieces of paper and 1 block of moss, and a paper mask can be made from moss and 3 pieces of paper, it will be 2 times worse than a moss mask, but if the moss mask is almost broken, you can use it to your advantage and create a paper mask. Masks allow you to retain air, but if it is almost gone, they will not be able to give you new air, for this you can fill up a bottle of air by pressing the right mouse button on the surface with an empty bottle in your hand. From rotten flesh and bones, you can make miner's soup, which will allow you to eat without leaving the caves.
