Description

Biome Compass

The Biome Compass is an item that will scan a selected square of chunks around the player and locate the requested biome in that area.

Supports all biomes, even ones added by mods such as Biomes of Plenty and Twilight Forest.

Please suggest features and improvements, and of course report any errors.

I hope you enjoy and please donate if you like it, or leave a comment. Thanks!

Usage

Basic

Surround a vanilla compass with 4 empty maps in a cross to form the Basic model.

An unnamed biome compass will advise you to activate it on use, which is done by using an anvil to rename the compass to the name of the biome you are seeking.

Enhanced

There is a single-use Enhanced model that allows you to teleport if you click while sneaking

It is created by placing ender pearls in a cross around the Basic model

Elite

Finally, there is an unlimited-use Elite model, which is created by placing four Amalgam Pearls in a cross around the Enhanced compass.

These pearls are made up of vanilla items and are quite a pain to make, but the Elite compass is worth it.

I advise using NEI to locate the recipes for the Amalgam Pearls.

Config

Debugging: defaults to false, but you can turn it on if you want to see lots of data for seeing how the compass locates the biome

scanRadius: defaults to 25.  Will tell the mod how many chunks you want to scan in each direction from the player's current position. Be warned that high numbers may make your computer or server unhappy.
