Description
The Better Deserts Mod!
(Requires Forge Modloader)
- What is the end goal of this mod?
- To make deserts completely livable and vibrant without having to use anything from another biome, and to give a unique feel and reason to go to deserts. Leave any ideas you might have in the comments below! Feel free to message me with any othermod ideas as well, because I love the practice!
- What does this mod add into the game/do?
It adds a two new blocks, The Barrel Cactus and Barrel Cactus with fruit block that spawn naturally in deserts, it adds Sandstone tools and cactus fruit, it adds a lizard that spawns in the desert and collects sticks from dead bushes, and it lets you turn sticks back into planks by putting them in a 2x2 square. Now with oasis!
Elaborate the Barrel Cacti.
The Barrel Cactus spawns naturally, while the barrel cactus with fruit spawns on top of the barrel cactus at the same rate that a normal cactus would generate more cacti. This adds a source of food that can be farmed to deserts.
Elaborate the Sandstone tools.
The sandstone tools are made the same as any other tools, but with sandstone. They mine faster than stone tools, but have 33 less uses.
Elaborate the Lizards.
Lizards spawn in deserts, and when killed, drop sticks, and occasionally planks. This gives a source of wood in the desert, and with the new crafting recipe for planks, you can use the sticks they drop to get more planks. They don't like chickens.
Elaborate the Oasis.
The Oasis spawns in a desert, currently trees made of jungle wood, and water are available there, but in the future, there will be special trees for oasis.

Now that I have it, how do I install it?
Follow the instructions here to install forge modloader, then go to your .minecraft folder and create a folder called mods and drop the zip file into the mods folder you just created, or if you're using a mod manager, add it to the mods section.
