Description
This mod is WIP. Tuning of the temperature calculations will change
Many players like the Tough as Nails mod for temperature and thirst survival gameplay. However, many players also do not like the way that the temperature is calculated. Some complaints are that it is too simple and changes too rapidly. This mod seeks to change that for players who want a more "hardcore" experience with Tough as Nails.
Bed of Nails changes the calculation of player temperature so that it is more gradual, and in the future, will be more complex and tweakable.
Features:
- Your temperature increases to a target. This means nearby blocks like campfires will bring you to their temperature rather than continually increase/decrease it further and further
- Temperature changes much more gradually. I am still tweaking the exact speed.
- Armor is effective in extreme temperatures, but it won't overheat you easily in moderate ones
- Metal armor has negative insulation, it will make you colder in cold biomes and hotter in hot biomes
- Biome temperatures can be very extreme, meaning you can often survive but not without active ways to maintain your temperature rather than solely relying on armor
- Armor can be lined. It's crafted with one "normal" armor and one "liner" armor. Liner armors are wool, leather, and leaf. You cannot line a liner armor, or line a normal armor with another normal armor.
- Armor items with a liner take on most of the stats of the liner in a 90/10 split. This ratio can be configured.
Current temperature factors:
- Surrounding biomes
- Time of day
- Shade
- Armor, with temperature and insulation values
- Weather
- Standing in or being underwater
- Nearby blocks
Run /bondisplay true to see finer details about temperature
I am looking for feedback on the temperature calculation so I can develop the mod further.
