Description
Adds the Ambience Block, it will play the chosen music/sound on loop, this works best with a resource pack that adds custom sound files.
The goal of this mod is to help soundscaping builds using custom sounds, all of the items can only be obtained in creative mode. (except for the Wooden Ambience Block)
You also have an invisible variant (Invisible Ambience Block) that can only be seen when held akin to barrier blocks and a dedicated item (Ambience Block Finder) which, when held, highlights all ambience tile entities within the clients range, color is based on the sound's name and brightness changes based on whether or not it's currently playing.
For more info on how to use the block GUIs I recommend visiting the wiki.
What is new in 1.3.0 ?
- Added multiple new conditions which can be found here.
- Added the ambience compendium to play server/world wide sounds.
- Added a common config to regulate some aspects of the mod.
Video showcases of this mod's usage :
Planned features :
- Ambience presets for the misc tab that would get saved to .minecraft's folder.
- Always playing option to prevent the sounds from always starting at the same point when you get in range.
- Adding a Fusing tab to select if you want volume and pitch to be default, averaged or summed.
More planned ideas can be found here.
Warning : The stream option in the sounds.json file is prone to randomly stopping looping sounds in 1.12.2 and 1.15.2.
Note : Using mono sounds is of lower quality but allows the sound to be heard from a direction ingame while stereo sounds better but plays without a direction.
Supported Minecraft versions :
Forge
- 1.18.2 - Supported
- 1.17.1 - Discontinued at [1.3.3]
- 1.16.5 - Supported
- 1.15.2 - Discontinued at [1.1.10]
- 1.12.2 - Supported
Fabric
- 1.18.1 - Being ported to right now
University is keeping me really busy so updates might be slow.
I made two resource packs destined to add sounds to test the mod out with, they're not included by default because they'd bloat the download size, one is all about ambient sounds and the other music, you can download whichever here.
Do not hesitate to ask for any features you'd like to see in or report bugs you might come across.
