Description

Akashic Tome of Tools

Legal notice: This is a derivative of Vasco Lavos's(Vazkii) Akashic Tome. Changes (Github) (61 changed files with 1,774 additions and 1,289 deletions).

Note: this mod requires ClothConfigApi.

Akashic Tome of Tools is a mod inspired by AkashicTome. The only item it adds is the Akashic Tome, crafted with a Book and a Bookshelf. The look is somewhat the same, but they are very different. Check out the images tab for some pics.

Really. Just check the images.

This Akashic Tome can be combined with mods' documentation books or any other items, and can store as many of them as you can fit in there.

  • To add a stack to it, simply combine them in the crafting table. You can have as many as you want, including duplicates.
  • You get the actual item from the mod, carefully wrapped and handled by the tome. This ensures 99% compatibility with that item's functionality and 99.9% guarantee of not losing or duplicating all the other attached items while using it.
  • The item gets some NBT data tacked on to it to ensure the game stores it properly.
  • Since you get the actual item, you can use it for crafting and you'll most likely not lose all other attached items.
  • To morph the tome into another item that is added to it, simply right click and pick the one you want.
  • To unmorph back into the tome, shift-left click. (And face up if holding a sword)
  • To remove items attached to it, drop the item using ctrl-Q while shifting and it's morphed into the item you want to remove.

Configuration

The config file for the mod includes the following:

  • An option to allow every single item to be attached. Enabled by default.
  • An option to allow every stackable item to be added. Enabled by default.
  • An option to allow other tomes to be added. Disabled by default.
  • An option to show bundle-style tooltip.
  • A blacklist for mods that should not have items attached.
  • A whitelist for names where items that contain them should be able to be attached (like book, tome, lexicon...) (useless if you bypass it)
  • A whitelist for specific items (or regexes) that should be able to attach regardless of other config.
  • A blacklist for regex items that you can't use if they are attached (Maybe something from somewhere works only with left click?)
  • A blacklist for regex items that you can't unmorph unless you face straight up (Like swords, for attack quirks)

I checked some use cases of the tome and fixed many so far. Create an issue on GitHub to let me know if there are more.

WARNING:

Lithium's hopper fix detaches items from the tome and puts them in different slots (you might like it more, just put a buffer in between)

Don't split stackable stacks of morphed tome while they are stored as nbt, or you'll just clone everything there (Like in Applied Energistics storage or whatever) (Or just require unstackables ;P )

Charm causes incompatibility, so you need to remove the conflicting mixin from charm manually.

I was lazy to do it, so just make sure config files on server and client match

Dispensing a water bottle into a dirt block voids the tome
