Agony is a dark, atmospheric mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 (Forge) designed to bring a gritty, visceral edge to your world. No longer will creatures simply vanish into a cloud of white smoke upon death. Now, every demise leaves a permanent scar on the battlefield.
— The Aftermath: Blood blocks spawn strictly upon the death of a mob or a player. A violent burst covers the surrounding blocks, creating a true scene of agony. — Wall & Ceiling Coverage: Thanks to advanced multiface block logic (similar to glow lichen), blood dynamically wraps around corners, sticks to walls, and drips from ceilings without destroying existing blocks or torches. — Note: There is currently no active bleeding/bleeding effects during regular combat, and custom particles are not yet implemented. Blood only appears when a creature dies!
— Weather Synergy: The world doesn't stay stained forever. If blood blocks are exposed to the open sky during a rainstorm or thunderstorm, the rain will realistically wash the blood away over time, naturally cleaning the landscape.
— Agonizing Screams: Custom, high-quality audio effects for specific damage types. Hear desperate, muffled suffocating gasps when drowning, or a terrifying scream of agonizing pain when burning alive.
The core visual style and the texture design for the blood blocks in this mod were heavily inspired by and taken from Varied Commodities. However, to fit the dark and unforgiving mood of this project, the original blood texture has been carefully edited into a much darker, deeper, and more realistic crimson tone.
If you love the aesthetic of Varied Commodities but want your world's deaths to look more mature and atmospheric, Agony is the perfect addition to your modpack.
Developed with agony, for those who seek a truly unforgiving world. Stay tuned for future updates!
